Car fire | 700 Road

February 24, 2010

At 1547 hours Company 33 was alerted for  a vehicle fire on 700 Road just west of The Spangler Road. Adams County 911 notified Deputy 33 (Dustin Poist) they received multiple calls of a car on fire. Deputy 33 went on scene confirming location and advised he had a working passenger car fire. Engines 33-1, 33-2 and 33-A arrived on scene at the same time. Deputy 33 ordered the 1 3/4" attack line pulled from E33-1. E33-1 Firefighters Rich Dawley Jr. and Austin Staub advanced the line to the car and made the attack. E33-2 Firefighters Kevin Moul, Ken Wolf and Tony Phillips assisted with opening the hood and backed up on the line. State police arrived and took command of the scene, all Company 33 units cleared the scene at 1621 hours. For more pictures go to 911 Photography

MVA With Minor Injures | Carlisle Pike and Hanover St.

At 10:27 Company 33 was alerted for  a vehicle accident with injures at the intersection of route 94 and Hanover Street. Rescue 33, Engine 33-1, Engine 33-2 and Ambulance 33A was due on the box.   Firefighter/EMT Staub was on scene, reporting a two vehicle accident and  blocking the roadway, three patients all with minor injures.   Assistant Chief 33 ( Bart Martin) arrived on scene assuming command.  Assistant Chief 33 held  Rescue 33, Engine 33-2, Ambulance 33A, and Ambulance 49-2 from Penn Township to the scene.   33A transported two patients to Hanover General Hospital non-emergency  and Penn Township 49-2 had a patient refusal. A family dog was also slightly injured in the accident, the dog was turned over to the police department. Assistant Chief 33 placed the all units availableon scene availble at 10:52.  

Vehicle Fire | 6115 York Road

February 9, 2010

At 19:38 hours Company 33 was alerted for a vehicle fire in the area of the Turkey Hill at Cross Keys.  911 Photographer Steve Roth was on scene shortly after dispatch, Steve advised county control via cell phone of a fully involved truck fire on the Carlisle Pike, just past the Turkey Hill.  Engine 33-1   arrived on scene under the command of firefighter Brad Staub confirming a  working vehicle fire. The crew from Engine 33-1 (Shawn Kessel and Bob Wilkes) put into service a 1-3/4 attack line.  Engine 33-2 arrived on scene and set up to supply water to Engine 33-1.  While on scene of the this incident, Engine 33-2 was re-assigned to respond to York County box 33-100 for a vehicle accident.  Engine 33-1 returned to quarters at 20:48.

Chimney Fire with extention | 375 Green Ridge Rd

At 2100 hours Company 33 was alerted for Truck 33 for a chimney fire on Green Ridge Rd.   Chief 10 (Phillips) arrived on scene with smoke showing from a single story family dwelling.   Truck 33 responed within mintues of dispatch with the Deputy 33 (Poist) as the OIC. Chief 10 went on scene and advised Adams County 911 to upgade the box to a working structure fire.  At this time Engine 33-1, Tanker 33 and Rescue 33 were added to the box. Truck 33's crew split, with firefighters Shawn Kessel, Brad Staub and Deputy Chief 33 (Poist) checked for extension and pulled the ceilings. Firefighters Austin Staub, Jeff Blystone and Lt. 33 (Byrne) completed vertical ventilation of the roof, swept the chimney and checked for further extension.  All units operating on scene cleared the scene at 2232 hours.   

Multiple Buildings on Fire | 200 Tall Oaks Rd

At 1718 hours Company 33 was alerted for Engine 33-1 and Rescue 33 for a report of a piece of farm equipment on fire next to a building.   A large black column of smoke was visible from just outside the borough of New Oxford. Chief 19 (Jerry Poland) went on scene within minutes of dispatch reporting multiple buildings were involved. 2nd and 3rd alarms were struck within minutes of his arrival and he established command. Tanker 33 and 33A were added to the box. Engine 33-1's crew of Dave Small , Lt. Sipe, Tim Tyler and Shawn Kessel went to work operating a  hand line extinuishing the one barn as well as the farm equipment. The crews from Company 33 returned to quarters at 2139. Structure Fire | 664 Racetrack Rd

At 0747 hours Company 33 was alerted for a report of a structure fire at 664 Racetrack Rd.  A caller advised the Adams County 911 Dispatch Center of heavy smoke coming from the rear of the house.  Deputy Chief 33 arrived on scene to find Firefighter/ Paramedic Bruce Yealy on scene and light smoke condition coming from the rear of structure.   Firefighter Yealy advised Deputy 33 that one 1 3/4 inch attack line was needed to wet down a chicken coop.   The chicken coop was attached to the rear of the house.  Firefighter Yealy advised Deputy 33 that fire appeared to be out .   The fire was put out by bystanders using a trash can full of water.  The units on the call were Engines 33-1 and 33-2, Truck 33, 33A, and Engine 11-1.   The cause of the fire was believed to have come from a heat lamp in the chicken coop.  There were no chickens injured in fire.    Units cleared the incident at 0823 hours.  

Brush Fire | 1425 Abbottstown Pike

January 16, 2010

Company 33 was dispatched for a brush fire behind 1425 Abbottstown Pike.  Company 33 units on call were Engine 33-1, Brush 33, 33A, Service 33, and Tanker 33.   Comand 33 held the box to Brush 33 and Tanker 33 and all other units in service. 

MVA unknown Injuries | 650 Kohler Mill Rd

January 16, 2010

At 1559 hours Company 33 was alerted for a Motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries.   Chief  33 arrived on scene with a single vehicle into a tree.   Chief 33 advised 33A of three class 3 patients.   Rescue 33 arrived on scene and checked the vehicle for hazards.   While on scene company 33 was alerted for brush fire in the area of Route 194 and Protectory Road.   Rescue 33 cleared the scene of the accident and per Chief 33 responded Emergency back to station 1 to provide crew for Engine 33-1.   Units cleared the accident at 1613 hours. 

MVA with Entrapment | Stoney Point and Carlisle Pike

 Company 33 was alerted for Rescue 33 at 2129 hours to assist with a MVA with Entrapment.   Rescue 33 arrived on scene and the crew assisted Company 10 with securing the incident scene.  Rescue 33 returned to quarters available at 2206.

Inside odor of gas | 112 South Orange St

January 11, 2010

At 1819 hours Company 33 was alerted for an inside odor of gas.   Chief 33 arrived on scene and advised to hold the box to Engine 33-1, Truck 33 and 33A.   Crews from Engine 33-1 and Truck 33 checked the 2 story appartment house and found no source or odor of gas in the building.   Assistance Chief 33 took over command and placed the box in service at 1838 hours.

Medic 46 housed at Company 33 Station 1 | United Hook and Ladder Co. 33 Station 1 (New Oxford Station)

United Hook and Ladder Co. 33 is proud to anounce that Hanover Hospital is housing a satellite truck in United Hook and ladder Co. 33 Station 1 (New Oxford Station).    The Medic unit is 24 hour coverage with one paramedic on the truck.   This unit is known as Medic 46-4 and will be providing primary ALS service to the following areas; Abbottstown Borough, Berwick Township, East Berlin Borough, Hamilton Township, New Oxford Borough, Oxford Township, Reading Township, and parts of Mount Pleasant Township, Straban Township, and Paradise Township.     

RIT to Hanover Borough | 500 East Middle St (New York Wire)

At 0803 hours Company 33 was dispatched for Engine 33-1 for the RIT team.   Enginge 33-1 arrived on scene to find a large tower on fire and crews from stations 46 and 49 attacking the fire. The crew staged in the RIT staging area. Vehicle into a structure | 2200 Blk of the York Rd Gettysburg

December 7, 2009

  This afternoon around 12:48 hours Company 33 dispatched for Engine 33-1 to assist mutual ade for a mutiple vehicle accident with one vehilce into a structure.   Captain 33 (Sipe) contacted Command asking if he wanted the Rescue in place of the Engine.  Command 1 confirmed to bring the Rescue.  Rescue 33  arrived on scene and assisted 1A.   A crew member from 1A was caring for a patient in the blue SUV.   The Rescue crew was advised that driver's side door needed popped because the patient was confined.   After the task was complete the crew from Rescue 33 was assigned to RIT.  After the dump truck was removed from the structure the Rescue crew assisted with the repacking of the 5 inch hose (LDH).

Early Entrapment | 6800 block of York Road

December 7, 2009

This morning around 06:30 company 33, East Berlin's ambulance, and Hanover's Medic 46 were dispatched to a vehicle accident reported to involve a tractor trailer with possible entrapment.

A delicate extrication was completed by the crew of Rescue 33 while the patient was attended to by company 33 EMS and Medic 46 personnel. Stat MedEvac transported. 

Engine 33-2 and Ambulance 11A assisted with packaging and transport of the tractor trailer driver.

On scene: Company 33, Company 11, Medic 46, Stat MedEvac, Numerous Adams and York County Fire Police, Eastern Adams Regional Police Department & PennDOT

Elctrical Fire | 118 Amy Lane

December 3, 2009

Around 2054 hours  Companiens 33, 14, and 19 were dispatched for a possible electrical fire.   Engine 33-1 was delayed to the scene because of a train in the Borough of New Oxford.   Chief 33 arrived on scene and advised the electrical fire was now out however there was a smoke conditon in the home holding companies 33 and 19 on scene.   Crews from 33 and 19 set up positive pressure ventiltion.  Crews cleared the call at 2131 hours.  More photos by 911 Photography

Progress Engine 33-2 | Sutphen Corporation

The new Engine 33-2 has been delivered! Before the engine is put into service lettering will be completed by Jake Phillips of The Fire Store and tool mounting by PA Fire Apparatus.

Wood Shed Fire | 825 Low Dutch Rd

At 1439 hours the Bonneauville, United Hook and Ladder,SAVES, Gettysburg, Barlow and Gettysburg Ambulance was dispatched for report of wood shed on fire.   Adams County advised Chief 19 that they recieved multiple calls of heavy smoke in the area.   United Hook and Ladder responded with Engine 33-1 and Truck 33 in place of Rescue 33.   Chief 19 advised crews responding of a working fire and for the first Engine in pull the deuce and half.   Engine 33-1 arrived on scene the crew pulled the leader line off the read and added the 1 3/4" high rise pack line and assisted with fire attack.   Truck 33 arrived on scene and assisted with fire attack and over haul. Engine 33-1 and Truck 33 returned to quarters available at 1618 hours.   The fire claimed the life of 2 chickens and damaged 2 antique tractors, and a lawn mower along with other tools and equipment owned by the property owner.

Rescue 33, Engine 33-2, 33A, 33A1, and 11A handled 2 accidents less than a mile from each other, and only minutes apart. The first accident occuring at Berlin Road and the second at Cross Keys.

Structure Fire | 2200 Blk of the Hunterstown Rd

November 3, 2009

Engine 33-1 was dispatched at 0455 hours for a report of a structure fire.  Engine 33-1 responded with the Chief and 4 other firefighters.   The crew assisted with fire attack.   Engine 33-1 returned to quarters at 0713 hours.
