Structure Fire-The Christmas Haus | 110 Lincoln Way West

April 10, 2010

At 1105 hours, the pre alert tone was hit for box 33-13 for a structire fire at 110 Lincoln Way West in the borough of New Oxford. Assistant chief 33 (Martin) went on scene with a working fire on the second floor. E33-1 arrived one minute later and advanced a 1 3/4" line to the second floor. Captain Sipe advised command that the fire was advancing to the attic area, and crews were searching for interior access to the attic. Truck 33 opened the roof on side A, Quint 29 worked on opening the roof on side B. Engine 29 advanced a line to the C-D side of he house. Water supply was established by Tanker 33 at the hydrant in front of the building, supplying E33-1. RIT teams from 46 & 49 set up in front of the fire building. The fire building was The Christmas Haus, a 119 year old building that was a antique dealer showroom on the first floor. Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal determined the origin of fire to be squirrels chewing through the wires in the attic of the house, no working smoke detectors were found on the second floor. A special thank you to all mutual aide departments for your assistance. A great job was done by all.
