Propane Cylinder Leaking | 120 Brickyard Rd
March 13, 2010
On Saturday, March 13 at 1445 hours, we were dispatched to 120 Brickyard Rd for propane cylinder leaking. AC 33 arrived on scene and found 2 250 lb cylinders lying on their side, with 1 venting. According to neighbors, Shipley had been there 3 days before and filled both tanks. E33-1 arrived on scene and secured the area and checked all buildings for any open flames or ignition sources with none found. The NW wind and the steady rain fall were helping to disapate the fumes. The area was secured and Shipley was notified to respond to the area. A rep from Shipley arrived on scene and was able to shut both tanks off. Upon inspecting the cylinders, it was found that the original placement was not secured enough to support the tanks. The tanks were supported by 3 small cinder blocks and 1 side rested in the dirt. With the large amount of rain over the last couple of days, the wet dirt gave way to the weight of the tank pulling them both down and away from the residence. The scene was turned over to Shipley to upright the tanks and secure them.
